Medication Adherence using Non-intrusive Wearable Sensors

چکیده
Activity recognition approaches have been applied in home ambient systems to monitor the status and wellbeing of occupant especially for home care systems. With the advancement of embedded wireless sensing devices, various applications have been proposed to monitor userâĂŹs activities and maintain a healthy lifestyle. In this paper, we propose and evaluate a Smart Medication Alert and Treatment Electronic Systems (SmartMATES) using a non-intrusive wearable activity recognition sensing system to monitor and alert an user for missing medication prescription. Two sensors are used to collect data from the accelerometer and radio transceiver. Based on the data collected, SmartMATES processes the data and generate a model for the various actions including taking medication. We have evaluated the SmartMATES on 9 participants. The results show that the SmartMATES can identify and prevent missing dosage in a less intrusive way than existing mobile application and traditional approaches. Machine learning classification of medication adherence in patients with movement disorders using non-wearable sensors
Medication non-adherence is a major concern in the healthcare industry and has led to increases in health risks and medical costs. For many neurological diseases, adherence to medication regimens can be assessed by observing movement patterns. However, physician observations are typically assessed based on visual inspection of movement and are limited to clinical testing procedures. Consequentl...
متن کاملVirtual Cuff: Multisensory Non-Intrusive Blood Pressure Monitoring
A key challenge in wearable health systems is obtaining continuous blood pressure (BP) information, bypassing intermittent and intrusive cuff inflation. In this paper, we explore the fusion of heterogeneous sensors, notably electrocardiogram (ECG) signals and photoplethysmogram (PPG) pulse oximeter readings, along with activity and location information, for blood pressure information classifica...
متن کاملAn Energy Efficient, Minimally Intrusive Multi- Sensor Intelligent System for Health Monitoring of Elderly People
Most of the existing systems for elderly health monitoring deploy a large number of cognitive sensors including wearable sensors for physiological parameter measurement. Increasing number of sensors not only make the system power consuming and expensive but also intrusive in nature. However, there exists very limited research on power saving algorithms in such systems incorporating customer fri...
متن کاملCup-le: A cup-shaped device for conversational experiment
We propose a cup-shaped device called Cup-le for conversational experiment. Cup-le has various sensors to record participants’ nonverbal behavior such as utterance. Cup-le saves the work of attaching sensors. Also, since Cup-le appears cup-shaped, it can sense without being aware of the sensor unlike conventional wearable sensors. Moreover, by attaching touch display, Cup-le can show informatio...
